WORK FOR US
Why work for Academic Summer Camp?
Our approach to teaching and learning means that you can forget the parts of teaching no one loves - homework, constant assessments and preparation for tests, and focus on the parts of teaching that brought us all to the profession: inspiring young people and helping each student achieve their Personal Best by providing an engaging and exciting curriculum. You'll be amazed at the difference just one week at Academic Summer Camp can make to a student, and we can't wait to see you experience this first-hand!
Some of the highlights of the teaching role are:
Competitive rates of pay
A friendly, motivated and supportive environment to work; whether you're a newly qualified teacher on your first paid role or a seasoned teacher, you'll be right at home at Academic Summer Camp
Flexibility in the number of weeks and hours you work
Excellent international experience
Excellent retention and year-round opportunities
Access to school facilities such as the gym and swimming pool
Accommodation (and some decent food, too!) in some great locations for those looking to stay on-site and take on overnight responsibilities.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for passionate teachers who have experience teaching their subject/s (confidence teaching several subjects is ideal as it allows us to give you a full and diverse timetable), are confident in communication and have a genuine passion for learning and supporting each individual student.
Whilst we love to hear from teachers who are available for the full duration of the camp this isn't essential, so do get in touch to check whether your availability matches the classes/camps we are offering. Some essentials for us are:
Availability from the Saturday before your chosen camp/course is running for essential induction.
The right to work in the country of your chosen camp when you apply; we're unable to sponsor or assist in the visa application process, so please take this into account when deciding whether to apply
A positive, flexible approach and a desire to get stuck into camp life
Experience teaching; qualified teacher status is desirable but not essential. If you have experience, teaching, tutoring or mentoring in your subject/s, we're keen to hear from you
Confident IT skills; While the teaching you do will be in person we use Teams for student folders and our CRM for all the important paperwork
You must be 19+ years old for this role
What are my responsibilities?
As a teacher, planning, preparing and teaching exciting and purposeful lessons/camp sessions are the primary focus of your role. Depending on which damp you're working, you'll either teach Adventurers (primary age), Explorers (age 12-14) and Engagers (age 15-17) or run camps for mixed ages. Look at our different camp pages to see which location approach fits your teaching style the best.
You'll be responsible for producing your lesson plans on our CRM, creating and maintaining student folders on Teams and writing weekly reports for each student you teach, so we can celebrate each student's achievements. You'll need to write risk assessments as necessary (remember, our academic team is happy to support you). We have a weekly teachers' meeting you'll attend where you can connect with the rest of the teaching team and receive important information.
We love our teachers to get involved with the overall camp community, so if you want to join a trip, share an interest with the students in a particular activity or lead an assembly, let us know!
I am interested! How do I join the team?

What are we looking for?
We're looking for passionate camp counsellors who embody enthusiasm and energy, creating an environment where young people can thrive. If you have a zest for life, enjoy fostering creativity and learning, and possess a range of skills from Sports to Arts, Drama to Bush Crafting, we want you on our team. Some essential for us are:
Availability from the first day (Sunday) your course begins and for the first week; check your preferred location for specific dates. The start of each camp is the busiest time and when the teams really bond. We offer flexibility on the number of weeks you'd like to work; let us know your ideal dates on your application form
The right to work in the country of your chosen camp when you apply; we are unable to sponsor or assist in the visa application process so please take that into account when deciding whether to apply
You'll need to be at least 18 years old for this role
A genuine desire to work with young people, a good helping of patience and lots of flexibility, and a positive attitude for when things aren't going to plan!
Skills you'd love to share with the students by running activities. We have diverse groups of students with a wide range of interests, and we aim to replicate that in our staff team.
What are my responsibilities?
As a camp counsellor, no two days are the same, but we follow a daily routine, so you'll soon find your feet. You'll be responsible for running engaging on-campus activities, including Arts and Crafts, Sports, Baking, Survival Skills and more, supervising students during the day, over break times, meal times and in free time to make sure they're in the right place, safe and happy. You'll lead exciting trips off-campus, ensuring you've prepared so your students get the most out of every visit.
You'll supervise students in boarding during their free time, in the evenings and overnight, creating a home away from home where every student feels safe and welcome (and helping them organise themselves, including demystifying laundry and an unmade bed!) You'll handle administrative tasks, not the most glamorous, but essential in keeping things running smoothly! This includes maintaining photo/video content, making social media posts to keep parents updated on their children's summer activities, preparing risk assessments and itineraries for trips, planning activities, and setting up.
I am interested! How do I join the team?
